Dear Listening to Jazz Members

Some good news this month.  Following my request, we have been allocated the Garden Room, which has easily enough space should social distancing still be deemed necessary and is better ventilated than Room 7.  Assuming we are all vaccinated and the Covid situation is stable, then we can meet again, starting Friday 1st October.

Now for this month’s music!

We have received two requests this month. The first is for :-

Joscho Stephan on guitar, “Have you Met Miss Jones” , featuring Volker Kamp on bass.

Next is the Paula Gardiner Trio, “In the Garden”.  This is from their 2012 album ‘HOT Lament”

This is a bluesy version of the Stones’ hit  ‘Honky Tonk Woman’ written by Jagger and Richards. Spot the irony.

Keb ‘Mo and “Playing for Change”

Margaret Pike has requested Lady Gaga singing the Sonny and Sher song “Bang Bang”. This is a strong live performance with a good jazzy accompaniment.

The Buena Vista Social Club and their signature song “Chan Chan”,

I make no apology for including The Hot Sardines again. This time it is their version of Duke Ellington’s classic “Caravan”

Finally, a sell-out performance at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in 2012:-  “Catch A Fire” The Jazz Jamaica All Stars with Brinsley Forde.

Enjoy.
